As above any suggestions on how to open it? Checked centre console all wires in place. Not opening with key or centre console button

Have read that thread but no joy. I haven't got a flatt battery.

Try lots of WD40 on the "skeleton key" and into the boot lock give the key a good old wiggle.

Hi,
You should be able to remove the first aid kit cubby though it might involve distorting the shelf a bit, then reach around to release one of the folding rear seats, once the seat is down crawl through to inside of teh boot catch and undo the boot striker plate bolts of which are under a couple of small blanks in the lower centre of the boot rear panel just above the spare wheel cover.

Seats on the w202 c43 are folding

Yes key opens the door

You need a new catch and plate from another lock unit. It went on mine. You need to take the lock out of the bootlid, take the plate off and replace it. You dont need to remove the barrel.

I have got a boot lock but its pre facelift

Doesnt matter, if you look at the base of the lock (where the catch will engage and lock and disengage to unlock) there are two clips which you can undo using a screwdriver. The lock then comes apart from the baseplate. Just switch these baseplates over. If you have a look before you change them over, there is an arm which allows the lock to open and close, this is the bit that goes as the plastic end piece snaps.

I'm sure you've tried it but try pressing up & down on boot lid while trying it with the key/button. May open it for you to repair? If not through the folding rear seats (or folding ski appeture in the rear sets if you're skinny enough?!) & unbolting catch from body from inside

+1 :thumb:

I very much doubt there is anything wrong with the lock other than a seized barrel which can be taken apart, cleaned, and re-assembled. amg3.6 I expect never used his boot lock and the lock was left to unlock/lock with the central locking, and as it is not releasing with the central locking any longer and the remote boot release is failling to work I suspect it will be the boot lock release solenoid is knackered, or jammed in the "locked" position.

If the key opens the door, it will open the boot. Spray some WD40 in there and insert the key, hold the other end of the key with a pair of pliers and slide it in and out really fast numerous times and then turn the key.

Worked for mine :)
