Is the bootlock on the facelift W202 one piece or can the barrel be removed and replaced? I am trying not to buy a brand new one from the stealer if it can be helped.

The whole mech is different than the pre-facelift if your thinking of fitting a facelift bootlid :(

No no, I dont need a bootlid. The bootlock opens with the key but doesnt release when the button is pressed on the key or on the boot itself. I've taken the lock out to look at whats wrong and there is a plastic arm which is broken and not releasing the lock to open it.

Is the lock one piece or can the barrel be taken out of my old one and put into a new lock? Or failing this do I need a complete lock mechanism to be ordered from the stealer?

The broken arm may not be present in later boot locks, it’s the arm (Lever B in below picture) and not the lock barrel that you need.
