W202 C250 D - more non starting woes :(

yes to both questions

glowplugs should be fine then.

i'd put it down to something else - probably an airleak and sometimes it drains back to the tank, so you need to crank it more to pull all the fuel back up again.

are you parked facing uphill when you have problems? if so, try parking facing downhill. This will verify my theory above.

I'm parked on a flat driveway all the time

again, this morning it started first time

I've no idea why sometimes its fine and others not

is there any wetness around the delivery valves?

when its running are there any bubbles in the clear fuel pipes you can see?

it sounds to me like classic air leaks. i had the same problem a few years ago, and eventually it turned out to be the delivery valve seals on mine, but i'd recommend to replace ALL other o-rings before you start looking at that, unless the area around them is wet, like it was on mine.

see my thread here:

I have bought another fuel filter today with new o rings, I'm replacing the green one on the banjo bolt, and I'm going to attempt removing the shut off valve (it has a rounded off allen bolt in it :( )
after that, I don't know what I can do, but it is a bit wet around the delivery valve seals
