W202 door sills

Starting a new thread to follow on from my recent Wanted post, as I see that is not really supposed to be a discussion.

I've now got an opportunity to buy a new set of the OEM stainless steel illuminated sills, as pictured.

Difficult to judge from the photos, so does anyone know how these compare in looks to the OEM non-illuminated chrome ones that Killerhertz has? I imagine they might be shinier, need more cleaning and could scratch more easily.

Malcolm, if you don't mind coming back to your original reply in Wanted, are there known issues with the OEM ones or is it generally with the aftermarket versions?

If I don't wire them in, I won't get those problems - is that correct?

They are made in alli and will mark more easily, thats all and they can be poished.

If they are the illuminated ones, wire them up and if they fail just leave them not lighting up.

As they are OEM, the should be virtually the same (apart from the luminated panel of course).

As mine are 2nd hand, they already have many scratches.

I saw the very same set on eBay last week. did they not sell then?

Unless you spray them you wont get them in gold.
