my 202 96 seems to shake quite bad when i stop and the gear is in D, it starts to shake as soon as it gets below 10mph. but when i put it in N the reduces drastically. any reason why this is happening. i have recently changed the engine belt and there was a loose exhuast clamp.
the car has done an amazing 125000! (5X ROUND THE WORLD)

THANKS IN ADVANCE

What engine? Does it feel like its going to cut out or not? How does it idle, rough idle, misssfiring? (Forgot to add - as benzedup just mentioned, if it is like cutting out or missfiring look at the plugs and the leads)

I would also recommend for you to check the engine mounts, gearbox mounts and prop shaft couplings as you're doing the rest.

When was the last time the gearbox had its oil and filter changed and level checked?

I had the same problem , but added to that the gears would change in time and it wouldn't do more than 60 km/h , i changed the air intake sensor (the thing that controles air and gas mixture) and the problem was gone !

I had a C220 93 (petrol) which had a gearbox sealed for life - ie MB thought fuid should never be changed...but I had it done anyway.

Check the MAF and/or EGR valves?

I had a similar problem, traced to the EGR valve, but mine's an entirely different car, so just a thought.
