W202 Front Wiper Drag

The front wiper on my 1997 W202 is dragging and slowing in the middle of its passage across the screen. I have fitted a new blade prior to this happening, am I to assume that the motor has had it?

Sounds like the mechanism needs cleaning out and greasing.

Must say ... I did the wiper mechanism clean 'n' lube job on mine a couple of weeks ago and the difference it made was totally amazing, really smooth and totally silent now. It's really not a hard job and makes all the difference. I opted to remove the wiper arm using an Allen key as it saves so much time and agro trying to get the plastic shroud of without cracking it. (ps. there are a couple of really helpful and well illustrated tutorials on the subject on here, saved me a whole load of grief).

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all you MB enthusiasts taking the time and trouble to give me the benefit of your good advice, it really is much appreciated! Managed to do the job in 10 minutes and everything now back to normal
