w202 headlight unit

Hi all.
I had the headlight out yesterday to change the horn to a stebel unit,
On removing the headlight unit i noticed a purple hose going to both headlights with an air connector going into a bosch head thingy.......
Does anyone know what it is or actaully does?
It was bouncing down so i wasn't messing about tracing the hoses.
On the plus side the new horn really stops traffic lol
