Hi, my 94 c280 is idling at 15/1600rpm when cold ? Anyone any ideas? It did this a few weeks ago but it usually only lasts until the car is warmed up fully. I was thinking maybe airflow metre? Any help would be appreciated.

if it is a 94 model you do not have a Maf.

Check if the idle valve is clean or if a vacuum hose is off or cracked

I had this problem a few weeks ago, and it turns out to be problem with inlet manifold pipe crack and needed a replacement. Although your problem may not be exactly the same as mine, but idling speed problems are more or less related to the intake system.

See pic item 17 assuming i have right engine remove and clean internally with carb cleaner etc as said check all pipe work to and from the idel valve.
Has it always done this or is the car new to you?
