I need few answers as im a bit confused.

I know that w203's dipped/main beam is H7, side lights are 501. Are the fogs H1 ? One's gone and want to replace it with something a bit better than standard(yellowish)

Can i use same bulbs( H7 Phillips Extreme ) for main and dipped ?

Why MB dealer is telling me that i CANNOT use LEDs on 501s? The said : "they might go sooner than expected because you need an extra fuse for higher voltage". Aren't these LEDs same voltage ?? So far ive had Osram and OEM Mbs but want them brighter. I don't want HID conversion.

One more thing: is £40 expensive for a OEM MB Fog light unit ? One of mine has cracked. I might've been hit a stone or something.

Thanks in advance. :)

"they might go sooner than expected because you need an extra fuse for higher voltage"

Complete and utter bull. Typical bloody dealer.

If the bulbs ARE 501s you can replace them with leds and they will last much longer than incandescent bulbs.
However you will probably need to defeat the bulb failure warning.

This can be done either by adding the correct value resistors to the circuit, or, imho, a better way is to relocate the original bulbs somewhere else (say under the bonnet).
This means that the bulb failure circuit will see the exact correct resistance, as the impedence of an led is so high as to hardly add any extra load.

Thanks Ted. Seen these LEDs on bay at £4.99 all inc and they look awesome :). Shall i try and see if they work ?

My local MB is changing...new manager probably. Went down today to ask for a service for one of my vans and was told : " It'll be £454+vat" WHAT !? Since when !? This is a 59 at service...cant be that expensive. After 20 minutes I decided not to go this dealer again..EVER!
He gave some 501...USED ...crap.

Post me a linky and I'll let you know.

is yes - as long as the WATTAGE is the same.

yes the dealer is talking complete backwash.

the new led 501's are designed to last longer and run more efficient. i would get a led 501 as well rather than the standard bulb.

you might as well pay the money and get HIDs.

those bulbs you mentioned may sound or look good but once fitted you will see them as a waste of money.

HID's all the way - better value for your money.

i have bi-xenons on my 2004 w203

i am looking to change the bulbs from the standard 4300k to probably 8000k, like i had on my old car.

is the main beam a HB4? can someone confirm...

also am i right in thinking i just need to buy the 8000k bulbs because i already have the ballasts?

if this is the case is it just a simple matter of taking the original bulb out and replacing with the new one?

thanks
