Hi all. I recently went to look at a car ( model as in title) with a friend of mine with a view to him buying it. It was a 2004 model C180 kompressor, manual 6 speed.

Could someone please tell me how is one supposed to check the engine oil level, as I couldn't find a dipstick. All I found was a plug fitted to the dipstick tube.

Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention, the engine is the M271.

I'd suspect its like this....You read it through the on-board computer - through the central display in the dash. Go to the odometer page, then 'scroll down' past the spanners and the outside temp, and when the engine is not running the display lets you know whether its ok or needs topping up. Bit of a pain; I'd prefer a bit of hardware that you can touch, and see what sort of state your oil is in.

Spot on - only available through on-board display - also believe there is a 'home-made' dipstick you can make - thought there was a thread on here somewhere....
