Hi, as title states I've started to get this rattle as im driving and it sounds to be coming from the passenger footwell central console area. Any ideas, as I pick up speed it rattles faster visea versa.
cheers Tom

Check the parking brake cables are not rubbing on the propshaft.

Hi BlackC55, that would actuall make sense as the parking brake cable doesnt currently work, its popped out under the rear seat as it needs adjusting at the drums.
ill take a look cheers

Right had a look and its defieately not the parking brake cable. Think it might be gearbox

Did you take off the heat shields above the prop?

Yeah, couldn't see anything wrong at all.
The noise is constant when driving. Except when I steer left it stops, straight line and right turn rattles. I'll have another look tomorrow.
My first thought was transmission fluid but not sure now, its gotta be something on the nearside front

Good Afternoon Folks, Im having the same exact issues as posted here, Ive been told by the dealer that its not the brake cable rubbing, so did you guys ever have any joy with an alternative solution?

Thanks in advance
Andy

You need to check the cable that goes from the park brake pedal to the rear seperation point.
Loosen & slide back the front exhaust heat sheilds under the car
The cable is held to body with blue clips, front one breaks & cable drops onto prop.
Clips are about £2 from the dealer, usually kept in stock or a food Indy will keep them in

Thread resurrection lol. Mine is doing exactly this. No rattle when idle or revving the engine but rattles when driving in a straight line and steering right. If I steer left then the noise goes away. Is this as simple as a cable adjustment??

As already said... Check for broken plastic clips which support the cable. You need to remove the exhaust heat shield to check it properly. Common problem.

Does anyone have the MB part number for the clips?
