the two buttons on the lid that acts as an armrest and opens either side have become stuck. I can find now way of freeing them up. I have removed the entire lid (arm rest) and can move the inner pins etc but the buttons are solid.

Tried WD40
Gentle persuasion
Fairly heavy thump
Huge big thumps and complete loss of temper

Does anybody know what to do to free up the buttons please. Or does anybody have a black armrest that they want getting rid off.

Regards

They are tricky little mites...if the lid is off and in your hand, the buttons wont depress very far... You have to push back both the pins on one side whilst simultaneously holding the button, then you need to keep holding the button whilst pushing it into place... keep holding the button and with some force it should click back into place... once one side is in the other wide will just go in easy peasy.

Thanks for the reply and tip. I have managed to get one side on by doing as you said (the passenger side). I still can't get the button(s) to push in so that I can get the drivers side on. It feels like the buttons may have jammed.

With the lid on (on one side) even if I try and hold in the pins on the other side they do not want to go in and the button feels like it is stuck. You can feel it latching slightly against the pins as you push them in.

Any more clues? Does the lid come apart? I see no obvious way that it would.

Any help or is it off to the breakers yard?

Bruce
