Had my batt replaced recently, OEM batt. The shop said they didn't touch anything else, but now my COMAND would sometimes flickers a little (like it has some sort of interference), and it would sometimes turn itself off and then on. Doesn't happen all the time, like today, I drove for an hour without any issue, then all of the sudden, it turned itself off and on every 5 mins or so. What would possibly be the problem? I don't think the COMAND is faulty, it almost seems like the currents aren't stable?

A little background on the COMAND unit though.. I had the Dension Gateway 500 installed to the COMAND, but the shop managed to broke the CD power wire, so instead, they hook up the CD changer to the COMAND power as well. All was well until the batt replacement, could this be the issue? Thanks!

They couldn't get the old pin out plus new pin isn't available :(

I'm sorry but that makes no sense to me, If you have a W203 every single part is available.

Take the car back and have them remove the CDC from the COMAND wiring.

All I can think of is that the way it is wired now it is confused on startup and the wake up circuits, it has to be the way Dan says, and that is to do it the correct way.

I agree. I have a box full of pins and connectors for CDC and comand.

Guys... I'm in Hong Kong where COMAND isn't a popular option since we have no CD map over here. My COMAND was retrofit since I used to deal with COMAND a lot, and no, dealer here has almost like NONE COMAND related parts available...

But the part's are standard, all the contact's are removable and standard.

We are not talking about fancy part's here, they are used all over the car.

Believe me, when I was installing the COMAND, I had to order everything from Steve, the pins, the C1 connector etc... But anyway, just got it fixed just now. The CDC power is back to C1 pin 5 and 6, but looks like I'm still having the same problem.

It's not really shut down, since the dash display shows "----" instead of "OFF" under Audio. But sometimes, I would have to press the power on the COMAND before it comes back on again. And this is completely random, I could drive for hours without problem, or it could keept restarting or even won't turn back on...

I checked all the connections and all seems fine, any idea what else could be the problem? Thanks!

The headunit itself, the ---- means its got a communication fault.

Check the CAN connection is good also.
