W203 Command problem

Hi guys, I have just bought a 2002 W203 that has the sat nav command unit fitted. Problem is that whenever I turn off the ignition the unit seems to power off and reset itself to base settings, ie into German.

It also doesn't want to come on unless the key is in pos2. My W211 comes on even without the key in??

Just been out and checked fuse '64' which is COMMAND and that is ok.

Everything else seems to work?

Try pulling the fuse out to completely reset the unit and then re-insert.

Sounds like the permanent live feed isnt working.

Was the comand factory fit or retrofitted?

Gents, thanks for your suggestions. The comand was factory fit.

A bit more investigating and I can report the following

• The comand will not come on until ignition is at point 2
• Once on, it comes on in German. I then have to go through SYS to find ENGLISH. The channel numbers DO remember the stations I have tuned them to.
• The clock on the dash also loses it's time every time I turn the ign off and starts at 00:00 for 2 mins after turning the ign on and then finds the correct time.
• The interior light works in ON position but does not work on the DOOR position.

I have been through all of the obvious fuses.

I have spoken to my local merc specialists and they tell me that it is on the CAN system ???? and want me to take it in to put on their STAR kit.

def sounds like a permanent live feed prob.....are all the relays ok?, perhaps try them first

Doc, do you know which relay does what? On the sheet of paper I have it shows the relays but does not id them.

Just worked out that the interior lights only work when it is dark..DOH!!!

Still not fixed the Comand issue though.
