Evening Guys,

On my Mrs's 203 coupe, ive noticed (despite the cold weather) the engine temp takes an awful long time to warm up. I know it shouldnt take this long.

I timed it the other day, and after 17 mins of start stop town driving it's no way near the 80deg mark. 17 mins is a lot of time to get it up there.

Sometimes after 5mins of driving it stays stone cold flat on the guage. It at least should move a little??

As a result MPG is suffering.

Its a recent purchase and despite the full wack service carried out recently im thinking ive got a sticky thermo.

Can anyone confirm if these cars take a long time to warm like this? I suspect not.

Cheers.

It should warm up much more quickly than that. I'd say it's 99.9% certain to be the thermostat. They're famous for not working.

Thanks Stratman, I did have it in mind when i sent it for a service but i thought id see first if it would have made a difference. Clearly not.

I just hope it is the thermo and nothing more.

Just an update, Thermo changed today and can confirm it was stuck open.

Engine now warms up quicker and temp gauge is a couple of notches north of 80deg. Somthing it never seemed to achieve. Always was under even when running for an hour or so.

MPG has increased too, so im a happy man.
