Hi All,

Just got my 2001 C-Class auto 220CDI (W203) back from the body shop, they've put a new bonnet, bumper, air con etc after a small shunt.

On the drive back it seemed fine, although I had no opportunity to give it any kind of welly.

Just drove it agian and it struggled up hill at 20 mph, no kick down what so ever, and manually changing down gears didn't seem to want to work?

Any ideas?

Just unplug the MAF sensor and the chances are that it will be OK maybe a little rough, but it should go better, if it does buy a new one from Bosch.

The chances are the MAF has got paint dust on it you could try cleaning

Hi Television,
Thanks for your reply, can you point me in the rough direction of the MAF?
Cheers

Hi Malcolm,

Just disconected the MAF, went for a drive and it seemed ok, althought not quite the speed as normal, pulled over on a hill then drove on again without stopping and it would'nt go above 2,000rpm without changing (on a steep hill, foot to the floor), previously the stability would hav been flashing on. I then switched to manual and it would not go above 2,000 in each gear.
I pulled over again, turned off the ignition and it seemed to be ok, any ideas on the baffling loss of power?

Take it back to the body shop mate ASAP!

Television has pretty much diagnosed the most likely problem and I agree with him. I know some who had lost engine power on their W203 C220 CDI but it was just a lose hose on the turbo that needed clipping back in and was very simple.
