W203 Stereo Problem

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 registered C180K which has recently developed a problem with audio on the standard stereo. The system works as it should on the display i.e. I am able to select CD / Radio skip tracks etc but there is no sound at all comming through the speakers, not even static If i leave it on sometimes after about 10 miniutes the sounds just suddenly starts (occasionally) and will remain until such time I turn the stereo off.

Anyone have any idea what might be the problem??

I had a similar problem with mine. It turned out that the last owner had taken the nearside door tweeter cover off, and had replaced it without the little rubber stopper that sits behind the tweeter. This resulted in the wires shorting out against the body of the door. A very easy fix, but it was doing my head in when it happened.
Have a quick check of all your speaker connections, just in case.....

Intresting, this sounds like it could be quite plausable, I had the drivers side electric window regulator changed last week which required pritty much stripping the drivers door down, perhaps this has disturbed a wire?
