Guys, I have a 2011 W204 C250. Is anyone able to tell me when the auto transmission oil and filter need replacing please?

MB say at 75,000 or at 5 years. Is this correct?

My service sheet says once at 31,000 or at 3 years under the additional operations section.

:dk:

Have you tried inputting the details of your car online within the Electronic service sheet thing? It's on the website, it should say what needs to be done and when

Yeah I done a test with the mileage at 31,000 and it came up stating it needed to be done, it also stated it needed being done even when I put the actual mileage which is 43,000.

I haven't mentioned what info the website returns but MB keep saying it doesn't need changing.

I'm having an issue now and then when the gears change a lot higher than usual when in normal Eco mode.

MB said my gear box is 722.9 fe7 and on the service sheet it states 722.9 nag2, are they trying to pull a fast one to avoid doing the work as I'm on a service care plan? Sounds like they are to me

I'm not entirely clued up on gearboxes but I would raise your concerns with MB, I actually need to see about mine as I'm on a service plan also but it doesn't look as if it has been done

Regarding the gearbox number another member will be able to help I'm sure you'll get more info on here this evening :thumb:

I'm sure for customer satisfaction they'd have to prove when it was done or provide more reason as to why they think it doesn't need doing!

I had an argument with MB Ashford on this point when buying my 2008 s204 (ie pre facelift) as the owners manual and ESs said 1 ATF change at 37k miles, they had supplied the car new and serviced it and no ATF change had been done. I was firmly told that the 37k miles ATF change was for post facelift cars only, my pre facelift box was sealed for life. They would do a fluid and filter change if requested, but at my expense not theirs.

Your car is 2011 which is facelift year - do you know if it's pre or post facelift? I suspect that a post facelift would be a C250BE but am not certain on that. Another giveaway is if you have Comand fitted - the pop up screen is NTG4 pre facelift, the permanently up screen is NTG4.5 post facelift.

Thanks ash59fifty-uk

Chrishazle, mine is the post facelift? It has the newer steering wheel, if that's a way of defrenciating?

What was the outcome between you and Ashford MB?

I raised my concerns to MB HO in MK. They said they were going to ensure the information regarding the ATF change at 75k/5 years is correct or not. Still awaiting a call back...

Ashford refused to do it at their cost and I have not had it done, initially as the car was very new to me so I had no real idea how smooth the box was, subsequently (touch wood rapidly) the box has given no problems at all so I've left well alone.

Facelift came in MY2011, not sure of other ways to find if yours is pre or post, but someone on here will be able to advise.

Yeah if you have the inbuilt screen on the dash and silver infill on the steering wheel it's a facelift, DRL's and LED rear lights would tell it's a FL too

Yep, definitely facelift

I guess MB don't really know themselves as they didn't call me back today!

Is the ATF change a case of whether we're talking about 7G-tronic or 7G-tropic plus gearbox. There is a thread on this. If I remember the "plus" box has ATF change at 70k, the bog-standard at 37K.

Does anybody know if the facelift version has the "plus" box - or is it not as straightforward as that?

My 2012 C350 has the "plus" box - standard on all models according to the 2011 price list. The servicing booklet that includes prices provided by my dealer with the car says: "Auto transmission oil and filter replaced once at 3 years / 37,000 miles". This wasn't done at the last service which was at 3 years and I admit that I totally forgot to ask why.

But the answer may be in the MB UK Service Booklet that is a bit more complicated in that it seems to depend on the specific engine and gearbox combination. Trying to simplify this I THINK it's saying that with the 7G (NAG2) box it's at 3 years/ 31,000 miles, and with the 7G Plus (NAG2-FE) it's at 5 years/77,500 miles. (The C63 is different.) So it seems that my dealer was right not to change oil at 3 years. It was the booklet my dealer produced themselves that complicated matters.

The simplest I can put it is this:

If it has eco start-stop technology, it has a newer low-friction NAG2+ FE box, and the interval is five years or 77,500 miles.

Thanks knighterrant, this year it is then as my car is 5 years old later this year.

How does one go about seeing if the ATF has ever been done? I can't see it mentioned in any printouts they gave me for the first service in my ownership, printouts for the previous four services at MB don't mention it either and are quite vague

I have a sheet like that for the B service I myself had in September, it reads Air filter/fuel filter/engine oil and filter change completed

Doesn't mention the type of oil though that is mentioned on yours

On the other side of this piece of paper there is the vague service history list pictured below, they only state dates and which service ~
