Hi Guys

I was thinking of buying a C250 in Jan (I figured not many sales in Jan after Xmas so I can probably get good pricing!) however i've heard the new C class is out soon (Feb 2014?).

Question was, is it worth waiting until this is out as I'm guessing prices of the older model will go down even further? or will the price differences be minimal..

Budget was 14-15k for one with comand, Advice much appreciated! :)

Edit: been reading http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/135415-new-w204-c-class-owners-discussion-122.html - are they reliable?! some of the posts on that are worrying..

There are probably a few more new sales in January for a 2014 car albeit with a 63 plate, which means there may be an influx of secondhand cars to help put some downward pressure on prices.

As regards reliability mine is now 5 1/2 years old anmd I've had it for 3 1/2 without problems, but my mileage is low.

See this other thread on MB quality, in particular the posts concerning the real jump in quality for the W204 over previous models.

No issues with mine (but also low mileage). Sad person that I am, I have also regularly trawled that W204 owners thread and its only a handful of recent problems that have cropped up - not a peep from the majority of owners. Good luck in January

Thanks for the replies I feel better about the reliability, especially with the above since you've been keeping an eye on that thread it fills me with more confidence :)

So you reckon to just go for it in Jan?

Interestingly CAP reckon over 3.5 years the C220 depreciates less then the C250 by £1100, lost £10k with my current car in depreciation so bearing that in mind for my next purchase!

Generally it is best to buy a car towards the end of a month, quarter or year. The best deals are available when the dealers are clamoring to hit sales targets.

makes sense about the month or year, end of quarter i'm guessing it varies depending on the trader when their end of quarter is.
