W204 C63 Newbie

neither do you, because by the sounds of it your constantly breaking the law!

Still moot. Each modification mentioned mostly here was also a factory option

None of us AMG owners buy one to drive round like we have glasses of wine propped up on the passenger seat so as not to spill any.

World would be pretty boring if we all drove a Prius

Let’s keep it civil folks , I’m not taking these modifications seriously so hope everyone else does likewise ;)If we are honest no one “needs” a C63 , we own them because we “want” them, often for different reasons, feel free to start a separate thread on that topic.

Back to my modifications, lots of folk are going aftermarket with their alloys so I thought I’d have a crack it myself , hope the clearance will be ok , may have to go low profile which could bu###r up the ride quality. I’ve heard that getting genuine MB Centre Caps to fit can be a problem with aftermarket alloys so fingers crossed my Affalterbach ones will fit :thumb:

Such a good looking car

Thanks to everyone for the kind words regarding my 507, much appreciated :thumb:

I think it is an excellent example of a 507 and looked after accordingly, some would say pampered, I’d say very well cared for :)

I can assure everyone that my 507 will not be harmed by my “modifications” , all will be declared to my insurers , and I will send a copy of this thread to any future purchaser of the car so that they are fully aware of what they are purchasing, should I ever decide to sell it. ;)

As I’ve been on another “virtual” bike ride (I’m taking the government advance very seriously and staying at home) I’ve not had time or energy for any modifications today but I’m hoping to get stuck in tomorrow.

Andy

DED3AC4C-CBB4-47EA-AF3D-44E86ADABD0E.jpeg The new lightweight multispoke alloys will fill the arches nicely but I’m going to have to go with low profile tyres probably 700x23s but 700x25s might just go. Best news is the Affalterbach centre caps are a perfect fit. :thumb:

Will this have an impact on ride quality ? And seeing as how you haven’t got a slippery diffy thingy, will you be able to get the power down, or is it better for drifting :D:D:D

Hi Paul.

As I’m at the cutting edge of trend setting with the C63 only time will tell. I believe I’m the first person in the U.K. to run 700c multispoke alloys on a a C63 , although some “Bro” in the US of A may have already done so. From experience 25s are WAY more comfortable than 23s and 80/85 psi should be the sweet spot for Continental GP 5000 which are my current “must have” tubeless tyres :thumb:

More to follow ;)

OK, thought I’d better get stuck into the “mods” before I go for my daily “virtual” bike ride up a mountain somewhere in Watopia.

Having spent a lot of time on this forum, and the occasional peak at BookFace it would appear that if you own a C63 and it’s NOT been mapped you’re missing out on loads of free Power MB robbed you off and won’t have anything to talk about down the pub or at a car meet. The usually proviso is issued , if I’ve used the wrong terminology please correct me , I’m new to modding but getting into it.

I’ve read a lot about “Mapping” and even had an email saying I could do it through the BBC port where you plug the Mercedes is Watching Me thingy in. Better still you can unplug it and if a conrod is stuck out the side of the engine MB CANNOT detect that it’s ever been “Mapped” and will replace your C63 with a brand spanking new one as it must have been a manufacturing fault.

As I already own a few “Maps” as I don’t trust the Sat Nav to get me out of the estate where I live (it seams to think I live the other side of the fence and wants me to drive through it to leave home ) I thought I’d see if these are any good

Map 107 - I think this is the stock map as it’s where I live , could be wrong :dk:

Map 111 - I think this is Stage 1 , good for about 50 bhp and as it includes Barnsley I should be able to do “Doughnuts” and quite possibly get a taste for them too, I’m going to call this one “Paul” :thumb:

Map 113 - I think this is Stage 2 - apparently “The One To Have” adds at least 100 bhp and you will get through a set of rear tyres quicker than you can get through a tank of V-Power. This is the one which rewards the “highly skilled and committed driver” better know as “nutters” , as I’m well aware of my own driving skills/limitations, I’m going to call it “Dave” as your loved ones are likely to need Dave222’s services sooner rather than later.

As usual “No 507 will be harmed by these modifications” . In the interests of honesty and transparency I will declare the modifications to my insurer and make any future purchaser aware that it has been “Mapped” , should I decide to move on to another “project car”. :thumb:

That's stunning Andy great work. They do look good in white.

Thanks Dan, the additional black parts on the 507 really stand out against the white paint. The white 507 looks quite different to my previous C63 coupe which was also white 👍😎

This is what the disc looked like when I got the car

First attempt with a bit of wire wool, the original plan was to paint Matt silver

and how they ended up , polished carrier and the rest silver.

probably about the 4th time I’ve polished them in over a year, if they are kept dry the aluminium remains shiny for several months 👍
