You could clear lacquer the bell to protect your hard work.

To be honest I’d intended to paint it all , but when I gave it a bit of a rub with wire wool hey presto it came up like this. It didn’t take more than an hour to clean up the aluminium part. The car is not a daily driver and is garaged so doesn’t have a hard life. As I take the wheels off pretty regularly I’ll see how they weather and hopefully a regular rub over with wire wool will keep them looking good. :)

Always amazes me what clay will bring off that you can’t see or feel. I’d washed and cleaned the wheel , degreased it , got rid of all the visible bits of tar then set about it using old clay which had been used on the paint. Both sides of the clay are in that state and we’re pretty clean when I started.

Wheel arch plastic liners are fairly simple to remove. The 10mm plastic nuts unscrew quite easily as do the 8mm galvanised screws. The plastic push-fit rivets can sometimes be a bit tricky.

The paint is VHT satin black caliper paint

Time for a change from Zymöl Carbon , postie just arrived with a new tub of Zymöl Creame and a bottle of HD Cleanse. The last pot of Zymöl has lasted me over 15 years , but it didn’t get used on daily drivers. ;)

This was a great buy from Halfords for £8, can’t believe I didn’t buy one years ago

Love this stuff , on second box as the 507 is getting an end to end detail :D

A huge improvement [emoji106]

The silver disc centre looks good with the black wheels.

Hope your garage is warm. You've spent ages in there this week!!

Sorted , well nearly ;)

After 7 days in the garage with what was a clean car is now a very clean and shiny one . Only 2/3 of the front bumper to sort and a bit of leather dressing to go on the seats. It never ceases to amaze me what clay will bring off a clean looking car, I even used it to get the centre caps looking good as new.

Now off to the pub with my other loved one for a Valentines Day pint :D

Looks stunning Andy.

Did you paint the wheel Bolts or managed to get the old ones looking mint again?
