W204 C63 Newbie

I get a lot of interest in my car and sometimes it is from gangs of young lads but I have to say it has ALWAYS been positive attention whereas when I had my S3 it wasn't always positive. Peculiar that. Where do you live if you don't mind me asking?
I live in Chelmsford. Most issues has been confined to more northern areas until recently, but there have been a number of carjackings in the Essex area recently, and once I'd been followed a couple of times that was enough to get rid. Miss the car though... Absolutely loved everything about it. Struggling to decide on its replacement.

I live in Manchester and went from an S3 to a 135i to a C63 when my two kids got too big for the 1er. I don't like big cars. I think you should try one of these things. They are in a different league to my S3 which I guess is similar to your R. My S3 was 365bhp and was dull as hell compared to this.

I've missed the R, but have driven these, both E92 and F80 M3, and B8 RS4. If I'm honest, I really don't like the gearbox on these. I'm a manual man all the way, but don't mind the BMW DCT. And I think the F80 was my favourite drive. HOWEVER, none of those cars sounds like that amazing 6.2l V8. And for eighteen months to two years I think that will more than overcome my dislike of the gearbox.

Ironic how we sell cars and then regret doing it.

Clio V6 - Great Car but felt like it needed another 100bhp. If i still had it now I'd have supercharged it. But at the time I couldn't afford to do that.

BMW M5 - At the time the later E60 V10 had come out, and I felt the E39 M5 was looking dated, now it's a classic and good ones are making big money.

Cosworth - I owned it for 12 years and it was very low mileage, but I'd gone as far as I could with it at the time (430bhp) and she was a garage queen and I needed something more usable and purchased the M5.

There are others too, but I didn't have pictures when I made my initial post....... TVR Tuscan - Always worried it was going to let me down mechanically...... But she never did, worth twice what I sold it for now.

Ahhhhhh.......... The life of a petrolhead.

Sorry Jim , I missed this post. You may well be right but with the correct mindset mistakes can often be corrected. ;)

Jim, Oh that’s a few nice motors there!

Andy, what’s your procedure for the autoglym fast glass? Whenever I use it I always have streaks afterwards

Sorry I missed your post , I apologise for the late reply. I’ve never had streaks with it , I spray on and then buff the glass with a microfibre and it’s been fine. It also works nicely on any gloss black bits too. :)

Having had roller shutter doors fitted in place of up and over doors the drafts in the garage were reduced to next to nothing. The amount of crap which blew in when the doors are closed is virtually eliminated which means once the car is cleaned and polished it stays that way. What I did notice was any water brought in on the car was hanging around and the garage had a damp feel as autum arrived and got worse as winter kicked in. I got the dehumidifier and Therma-Hygrometer as a Birthday present (great when you actually need something around Birthday time). I can say it’s a great bit of kit , first few days I was emptying the water container 3/4 times a day as the garage humidity was boarding on “wet” . I’m now only emptying it once a day and the garage feels much better and is in the dry portion , around 45% humidity.

Does anyone else use one?
