W204 (The new C class) quality problems?

I have had my pre blue efficiency c220 sport estate, since April 2009, and has covered 68k. In those 38 months, apart from tyres and servicing, I have had no real problems at all, except corroded alloys, which were replaced.

In fact tyres lasted to 38k all round and still have 3 mm on my second set. I actually drive it quite hard, but do a regular M6 to Birmingham daily commute and once a week probably a 300plus miler to London. I don't find Mercedes servicing too bad either, car even still has a bit of a new smell, if you sniff enough!! Only downside is the interior is a bit dour, as has been mentioned. Even fuel economy is good. A round trip to Le Mans, 4 blokes, full boot and roof box averaged 44 on the trip. Paint is good, looks brand new when cleaned. Very good car. I would have another.... But actually fancy keeping this as long as possible.

Oh just remembered, front fog light glass is broken!!

C250 12 mths old with 220000 miles.
only problem has been the audio software- the DAB radio switches channels everytime it is turned off and some issue with Ipod connection. Dab still problem but I live with it after 4 attempts to fix it. Other than that everything is good

Sorry, missed this - Very rude, but not as rude as your Facebook page ;)

Comparing a 2007 CLS with a 2010 C63:

Yes definitely, almost every inch of a CLS interior is leather whereas almost every inch of the C Class interior is hard plastic. But both cars cost about the same so I see it just as a re-allocation of the Germans effort from the interior to the engine. The COMAND system and Music Register is better in the C.

The answer? A CLS63 AMG.....

Nothing is as rude as my facebook Simon....:ban::ban::ban::ban:

But we are all over that, and what you should really say to me is

"Backatcha"

E class 211 to 204 and TBH the interior is fine and the car a joy to drive.

You've bought a C Class Touring? I have missed that!

I am biased, but I think they are cracking looking estates - probably the best on the road.

I'll save you my thread, its on here

Have a Flickr set

2012_08_The Skip cometh - a set on Flickr

Its not as fast as yours, not by a long way, but it is a real looked and drives a dream and has a way better driving position than the 211 which makes it more comfortable.

No 7g, no leather seats, no V6 diesel issues, I know I'll love it:D:D

I had that, PITA as you have to buy the whole fitting at £100 and then fit it from below or take the wheel arch liner out

Bought an official Merc one off e bay last night £35 inc postage. I 'll see how it fits at the weekend. Will let you all know.!!

Three years down the line, do you guys still share the same comments as the people who posted before?

I'm thinking of getting a w204 c220

Had mine since new sept 12 its a sport plus.
Had the wheels replaced under warranty as the laquer was peeling off and the water pump was seeping (picked up on 2nd service), otherwise faultless. Returned average of 43.9mpg over the 18,600 miles so far. Have had 60 mpg when driving like a nun.
I'm going to trade mine in sometime before Sept, I was offered £17800 by the dealer as a p/x Retail £19500 private sale just over £18000 as a guide. Mine is perfect and totally unmarked if you want to tempt me. LOL

That's too rich for my blood, im looking at the 2008 batch at £8/9k

Bought my 08 C220 estate 1 owner almost 3 years ago, 59k on the clock then, owner had traded it in at the supplying main dealer - from whom I bought it. Still love the car, suspension a bit soft on 16's so I've bought a set of AMG 17's, have to get them refurbed and new rubber before I try them. Wife also loves the car, we see it as a long term keeper - which for us is a little unusual!

No stereotypical rusting like old mercedes used to do

What's the average cost of servicing for a and b inspections?
And how expensive are the consumable items like brakes adds suspension bits?

Thanks

Possible Friday Afternoon Build

Owned from new, 2010 C350 Cdi (5th Merc I've owned in over 20 years), I love the car, it's a superb car for our annual drive down to Malaga every year BUT in 4 years:

New steering pump (warranty)
N/S Door handle replacement (warranty)
Windows & Mirror control unit (set in driver's door) switch replaced
Glow plug relay unit replaced
I think a glow plug/s may be on the way out slight rough start up during recent cold weather.

Other than that, all the goodies as well as the basics work and it's only covered 40K. 6 numbers up on the lottery and It's going to be replaced by an AMG S Class!

I bought a 60 plate c250 estate in jan 2015 from mb Cambridge ...worst car ivenecer owned and will be up for sale next week.

Off the road again, sensors failing, boot stuck open, no air con, flimsy dash.

Had a 10year old c220 w203 before, far better.

Back to BMW for me...just will lose about £5k in 6 months as dealers are a rip off.

Merc...prefer a Hyundai

I think the designer of the new C class looked at the rear of a Vauxhall Insignia and thought 'oh, i'll copy that..'

Talking of the Vauxhall Insignia. I saw the convertible version today ( can't remember what they have called it).

Seriously when they designed that were the entire team off their heads on crystal meth or crack cocaine. I have never seen such a fecking ugly soft top in years.

I bought my first C200 CDI 2008 about month ago and so far:

1) Camshaft Position Sensor (replaced under warranty)
2) Oxygen Sensor (replaced under warranty)

On top of that regarding to my car's service history:
1) March 2015: Replaced Oxygen Sensor, Replaced Travel Sensor
... before that only tyres and oil were changed in the past few years.

Covered 1000 miles so far.

Conclusion ? Very good car with faulty (expensive) sensors but still much better than my previous Ford (I replaced almost half of the car in 5 years time) :)

Despair not I am well versed in oxygen sensors, as had like you problem when first bought the car

first don't buy the Mercedes its Bosch so get the same but without Mercedes on it if you have to use Mercedes OK, watch out as some clean them and stick them back in.
Went to Edinburgh last week at Preston the orange engine light lit up, I figured it was the oxygen sensor so continued up.

Drove round for a couple of days. Went to come home no light?? Drove the 350 miles or so went like a train. Draw your own conclusions and no the bulb was fine so before you spend £120 on a sensor about £220 or more ex fitting with Mercedes written on it don't rush off immediately and get it changed.

I did do one thing different although don't think it's relevant, filled up with nitro diesel Shell and it made no difference at all but was interested to see if it did.
