W208 230k Supercharger Issue

I have now fitted the new mosfet and sadly for me this didnt solve the issue. From the second the car turns on after the ecu is plugged back in the supercharger works as it should for about 10 seconds and then cuts out. Turning off the car again has no effect on reseting the ecu and the supercharger will not work untill the ecu is disconnected, only then will the s/c run but only for the 10 seconds. I think going to have to bite the bullet and pay the £50 to plug it in. Thanks for everyones help and input so far. I will update once I know more.

Sorry to hear. K40/4 replay module possibly? Clutching at straws now but a least changing Mosfet cost nothing and you've alleviated an known issue. Do have a scout around the R170 SLK US forum Benzworld.org. There's an Auzzie there called Subby, he really knows his onions with these M111 Kompressors & very helpful too. Wishing you luck.

Thanks alot John, dont worry ill keep you all up to date :)

I am getting it plugged in later, just a quick question though, the k40 relays. Does my car have a K40 and a K40/4 relay box or is it that the CLks have a K40/4 and the SLks have a K40. Many thanks in advance.

No sure, think it's a K40/4.

Just thinking about it from memory both the CLK & SLK have K40'4's & the C230K has the K40. Blast, I should really be certain of the above as I did buy a new one for my car this year. Double check if you can.

Thanks again John, I have seen a few threads were its very obvious where the K40 relay has burned out, I pulled out my K40/4 and it looked as good as new. I think your right though it must be one or the other. I have found a guy that will plug it in for £25 now so at least its a bit cheaper now I have shopped around. I will let you know how I get on later.

Morning, I had the car plugged in last night and it came up with errors on the maf sensor and the lambda sensor. After a clear of the codes the lambda sensor cleared off but the maf wouldnt, after live monitoring it, it was showing some false values. I have now ordered a replacement so hopefully fingers crossed I should be up and running soon :)

Code on the snap on was P01000 Hot film mass airflow sensor
(Bank 2/5)

Good to hear, very, very common fault. I actually replaced my MAF as preventive measure when I got the car.

Just make sure you buy Bosch or Pierburg and shop around. Also, you only need the MAF, not the MAF & housing.

I found a good used bosch on ebay for only £25 so ive snapped it up and hopefuly it will be here tomorrow. Thanks again for all of your input guys :)

Don't mind me saying so but I wouldn't have bothered with a used one. Do consider buying a new one at some stage if you are keeping the car. Make sure too there's no oil on the old one or oil in I.C. pipes.

Yeahs its good advice, the cars undriveable at the mo and the budget could only stretch to a used one at the mo lol.

I just fitted the new used maf, the supercharger now works fine :) but there is a bit of a misfire and power is a bit down but much much better, im going to get the plugs out later and have a look, no doubt they are all black and horrible after the bad mixture the cars been running on. Hopefully that's all it will be and not another faulty maf.

Disconnect the battery for 30 mins or so. This will allow the ECU to start a fresh and adjust to the different operating parameters, thanks to the new MAF.

P.s. Can take up to 200 miles but worth doing.

All I can say is well done and I did tell you to check the MAF right back at the start as it controlls the ECU to engage the SC. !

AS for the K40 relay , I've heard of many people confusing the SLK and CLK, the issue does not seem to effect the CLK with overheated circuit boards!

And lastely dont worry about buying a used MAF, you may find it will last for years !! its better to buy a used genuine MAF then a new non genuine any day !

Yeah, but as he hadn't or didn't get the fault codes read initially he put himself on the back foot from the off. Basically working blind and clutching at straws. Maybe the OP will consider buying a code reader, the best £40 I spent in a long time.

I'd say your right about mainly SLK's suffering from K40 failure as I presume CLK's don't require a cooling fan for the control modules?

Agree too, better a used genuine MAF than a new cheapo. Still, imo buying used is only asking for future or on going problems.
