<div class="bbWrapper">hi all , after reading a few posts about non-working aircon units i found my system seemed to be showing sysmtoms different to other described in previous threads .<br /> <br /> The gas in the system was all depleated , showing no readout on preasure gauge , according to previous threads my EC light should have stayed on but it didnt . I was able to engage and disengage as usual .The condenser clutch wasnt engauging , I think this was par for the course though . Having some gas/fluid from a previous top-up I though i'd 'try it anyway' just to see and hey prestow , as soon as I started putting the new stuff in the condeser clutch engaged and all was cold again. I have read other threads where advise about changing various componants needed to be done when the clutch doesnt kick in , Am I just lucky or is this the norm and I've read the other posts wrong?</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">It'll last for a few weeks and then it will stop working again.<br /> <br /> I've got the same problem , it'll be the condenser which rots behind the radiator.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Ive checked the pressure again today and it seems to be holding</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I said a few weeks , not overnight.<br /> <br /> I had mine regassed about 3 months ago , and it has just packed up again.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">so are we talking weeks or months now?</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">13 weeks = few weeks<br /> <br /> I think that settles it... <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Look mate , i was trying to help , if you want to split hairs , good luck with sorting out your aircon.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">its already sorted , i was just trying to be helpfull for all the other people who have been advised to change out their condenser , I don't mean to come across as being funny mate , appoligies if thats what it seemed like .</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">The gas has to go somewhere! You must have a leak.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">As Olly says , you will have a leak , it may well be a small one , but it will be leaking.<br /> <br /> Olly quite rightly told me it would be my condenser when i last saw him , i didn't want to beleive it , but he was / is right.<br /> <br /> I'll sort out a new condenser soon.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I'll keep an eye on the prerssure then , with fingers crossed that is</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Allowing AC gas into the atmosphere is a bit naughty</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">probably so blackc55 but probably no more harmfull than the emisions of a bigger merc engine , still seems to be holding</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">It may do for a long while. A few weeks maybe even months.<br /> <br /> The gas directly harms the ozone layer</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Yes. Just like the old aerosol cans</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I thought that was R12?<br /> <br /> I thought R134A was introduced as it had no (or negligible) effect on the ozone layer.<br /> <br /> You learn something new every day!!</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">seems everthing harms something now a days ,i best just give up on it now before i blow the sun up or something , or not believe the government propagander to entice me into spending more of my hard earned money on the next new earth saving mega tax . Global warming ? i suppose i'll have to stop farting next. I blame Halfords</div>

I am sure the sun won't be harmed either <img src="/styles/mbclub/smilies/thumb.gif" class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":thumb:" title="Thumb :thumb:" data-shortname=":thumb:" /><br /> <br /> The hole in the ozone layer is very real just like farting.<img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I was reading up on this the other day weirdly.<br /> <br /> It appears that r134a is just as destructive but the molecules are engineered to be much less stable , hence it breaks down in the upper atmosphere quicker , doing less damage.<br /> <br /> The old stuff hung around for ages before it broke down , doing loads of damage.</div>
