After all of this heavy rain over the last few days I've noticed a small amount of water collecting in the front seal of the roof, where it connects to the front screen. This happens both sides and drips onto the seat/carpet... Cleaning both sides up has made a T towel damp so there is enough there for me to do something about it.

Does anyone know if there are drain holes or a revised seal needed or whatever???

Cheers Greg

I treat the seals on my SL every year with a rubber lubricant

My hard top however needed a lot of fettling on the catch adjustment to make it watertight and it was never as good as the soft top

If its where i think you are on about it leaking it doesnt actually come through the seals its the canvas on the roof leaking.
There is special spray that mercedes do, you spray the whole roof paying special attention to the seams of the roof. It is a long job to do as the roof has to be totally dry for at least 24hrs and then once the roof has been treated it has to be left to dry for at least 24-48hrs

Thanks guys.... Willow - Its in both corners as its meets the screen... surely I'd have other areas of leakage if the roof was at fault?

I am sure there are modified seals for the roof and screen. It may need some adjustment.

As blackc55 says there was also modified seals but they never really fixed it completley.

The main repair we used to carry out was to treat the whole roof with this spray in the dealer

Before you do anything to the roof....

Check that the hollow seals that run down the sides of the windscreen are not blocked. Open the roof and and push a thin flexible rod (Net Curtain wire) inside the P section.

To check they are draining get a small funnel and load them up with water open the front doors and make sure the water drains away some help may be required by blowing the water with a tube. Some silicone spray will help keep them clear. They get clogged up with scum during the summer.

Ok....sorry to open this thread up again but this leak is doing my head in!!Ollie (PCS) has fitted both Near side roof seals at top of windows, the revised front and 2 x pillar seal and also adjusted window in and up on its mountings and it STILL leaks..... Called Tony Purslow about the roof spray and they know nothing about this.....

So what next.....

Sell it to me for 5k.....

I will enquiure about that spray on the 4th when everyone is back and see what we can do.

If its the canvas that is leaking, Autoglym do a kit for cleaning and treating the roof.....this waterproofs the canvas...works well and the water just bead off my roof..you can even apply when the canvas is damp, I think.

You can get it from Halfords for about £30 I think.....
