Are you sure? I spoke to the Saudi Embassy about 2 weeks ago and they said it was fine to apply for a tourist visa? Maybe as part of the application I require to be sponsored but he didn't mention that.

Oh well, it's not like I could go through Iran and get a boat in UAE as visas for Iran are ridiculously expensive!

I got one!! Three weeks ago to-day. A 2001 E320CDI avantgarde estate, 76174 miles. A little of the usual rust on door tops. Xenons,tow bar, CD changer, phone kit, rain sensor, folding mirors, auto climate, refurbished wheels, leather,,,,need I go on? Oh,,, £3995!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I come to think of it, the year I was leaving I did remember they were trying to introduce tourist visa's, but I think their Idea of tourism and mosts would not converge!. Of course they have a few million visa's granted each year, but this is to pilgrims attending the Haj (you need to be muslim to attend). Mind you I was last in KSA in 2004 so I could very easily be out of date. If the emabssy are willing to do one, then happy days.

I did some more digging, I can get away with a transit visa since I am going onto relatives in UAE. Need a visa for Syria which isn't too difficult and also for Jordan which can be organised at the border for $40 for double entry.

Think I feel another roadtrip coming on later in the year.

"you have to ask your self if it was that good surely it would have been sold by now" would agree its a bit dated, wait a while & go for a W211.

I'd imagine a Diesel estate would be worht more than the saloon, sounds like good value you got there.

I phoned yesterday and he's had someone view the car (during the evening) who is coming back today to see it in daylight and give him a yes or No. He says he really wont move hardly at all on price, so I get the feeling he might move £150-£200. Will update later once Ive spoken to him.

Your car is nice, but I am in much need of another W140. Especially as my parents are moving to Dubai and I hate flying so a 4,000 trek to Dubai later this year is on the cars. For some reason the phrase 'driving my S500 through the Saudi desert does sound cool'.

Once I get myself into a S-class again I will turn up to some meets and hopefully meet some of you guys.

Why are you selling your car and what are you selling it to buy?

I have run out of space and as the Whale is a weekend fun car thats only done about 500 miles in 8 months its hard to justify keeping her. I've recently sold my W202 also and replaced that with a 4x4 for towing my car transporter trailer.
However i've been thinking about a nice Mercedes V8 for some time now....

That's the car i'm looking for at the fair price i'd like to pay. Why are there so many good cars out ther priced way above their true value?

'Fraid it sold at 8am Sunday morning . Still, plenty more fish in the sea, but a W211 is just a bit too modern for me!,
