W210 220cdi x reg wont start

Hi need some help please, tried to start my car today, put key in and ignition came on, then without turning key it went off and then on again, there was a clicking sound as this was happening. Any ideas please guys. Thanks mark

Thanks, got the battery on charge, will see what happens will a charged battery in it.

Ok, so put battery in, noticed the headrest in the centre of back seat is very wet and there was water in the light above, let water out and cleaned everything up, car started no problem. Only thing I can see is some **** has pulled the rubber cover off of the stubby aerial on the roof, is this the only place water could get into the interior light at the back. Mark
