Dear all,

Any ideas?

If you want the correct springs you'll need to go to a dealer , failing that , trust autodoc to provide them via your reg number.

No colour markings ? then you have options , as said just use your VIN with MB or autodoc and hope for the best .using the VIN is the key . I might add that on older high mileage cars (like mine) a previous owner might have replaced the springs for the completely wrong ones , no matter what colour they are,

I did a fair bit of research before buying the springs and it looks like I got it right (lucky :p) Just measure the ride height on a flat surface before you start taking anything apart. At least that way you have some kind of reference.

thank you all, @Petrol Pete & @OneForTheRoad ,so autodoc have got back, but also PFS Parts Ltd. - Saab, Volvo, Mercedes & Smart Car Parts Specialists, any experience with these guys?
autodoc have many brands that not heard of.

just to confirm, that when i push done on the front bonnet, both sides the car bounces, and the same at the back , when i pish down on the boot, both side, springs and shocks still the issue?
I am just making sure that i am describing the problem currently.

is there anyone here that lives near me, that I can show my car to?

Generally speaking a car on wire springs with gas/oil shock absorbers when pushed down should return 'up' in a controlled manner with little or no bounce as it settles in the upper position.

That was more true in the past with older cars , but even my 'old' car a 2006 C55 AMG has suspension that would probably have been considered 'race track spec' in the 1980's because of how firm it is. Carrying out the 'push down' test you describe on my car (all new springs and shocks remember) produces almost no movement , it was like that before I replaced anything.

The same test performed on SWMBO ancient Vauxhaull Zafira will show a fair bit of movement as the much softer springs compress.

Thank you PetrolPete, what do you advise I do? shall I send you a video of the bounce?

Id like to see your bounce . 😁

@W1ghty - just making sure that old suspension is actually gone bad and not that think its gone bad, measure a few times before cutting
