I have fixed my contact spring for the steering wheel, saved me £80 or trawling though the scrap yards.
This fault arrised through my ignorance of how this area worked, I.E. I thought it used contact rings and not a 'spring' (long wire in practise).
When I changed my steering gaitor http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=63072

I stupidly span the wheel around a couple of times  it broke a few days after, whilst turning a corner, SRS light came on.

So I just barred the ends, tined them, and then soldered them together, then covered with hot glue both sides.

Admittedly its a bodge job but I thought I'd give it a go :p

It will amuse some on here

Nice fix, but was there not enough tape left to be able to open the connector an d trap it in the block.?

Doh!
I didn't realise I could do that, the connector looked unopenerable:confused:

It might well be, but most ribbon cable connectors snap shut trapping the cable.
