How do I locate the right place to drill to attach tow bar to my car. Intructions from towsure refer to locating dimples in underside of floor pan and removing mastic as necessary. Anyone had experience of this.

Electric installation look tricky...any advice please

Thanks:confused:

Which holes, the ones in the longetudal chassis runners or the ones up through the rear deck.?
The ones into the chasssis rails are indeed marked with dimples, the upward ones is a matter of fitting the bar upto the car and marking out where to drill.
You will need to drop the exhaust to get access for the side rails.

You will need to drill the rear panel to feed the side rails in but must seal the holes after with tape or bungs so as to not allow fumes into the car.

Use a step drill, it makes it easier as you don't need to be exact and they are shorter.

The electrical side is easy, use the rear lamp cables and a 7 way relay unit. You will need an additional fused power lead from the battery.

The chassis runners seem to bolt easily into holes in chassis, it's knowing where to drill up through the floor pan that is the issue to connect main bracket.

The instructions I gaev were for the saloon, the estate may not require drilling of th echassis rails.
The holes at the rear under panel are marked with dimples, but it's probably easier to just offer the bar up to the panel.

I fiited a towbar to my W210 last week. I offered up the bar to the rear floor to see roughly where the mastic needed to be scraped away, removed the mastic and found four tiny dimples in the floor. They were about 4mm across. I quickly drilled through the floor and easily bolted up the tow bar. The longitudinal sections matched up with holes that already existed from the factory and were fitted very quickly. All in all, it took me less than an hour and a half from start to finish. It was not necessary to drop the exhaust, or remove any trim - I was able to just pull the trim away so I could bolt up the longitudinal sections. Easiest bar I have ever fitted.

Easiest bar I have ever fitted.

Try a saloon, it will drive you mad. You have to drop the exhaust, remove the rear bumper and cut the back panel of the car as well as all the drilling.
