Hi I'm hoping for a some help with my w211 2003 audio re-wire.

I bought and aftermarket head unit:
DVD/GPS/Sat Nav/3G INTERNET Player MERCEDES BENZ CLS-W219 (04-08)/E-CLASS W211 | eBay

and the new speaker wire:
Mercedes Fibre Optic Extension Lead | eBay

I have disconnected the AGW and ran the wires to the front of the car. However i cant get the unit to power on.
Im wondering if i have done something wrong with regards the AGW? Does the AGW become totally unused?

I thought i have have popped a fuse but all of them appear to be ok.

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Neil

Anything on the MOST bus becomes unused. Test with the multimeter to see if you have power at the quadlock. If not recheck connection and fuses.

Thanks for the reply. Are all the fuses related to the audio system in the boot?

Thanks for the link. Still no luck getting the unit to come on. Could anybody tell me if the aerial is the earth for the head unit?

Thanks

You need to run the fat power cable from the AGW up to the head unit and a equal size ground cable to the nearest grounding point (probably in one of the footwells).

Speaker cables need to be run there too, so does the signal to power up the antennas, and one (the black) antenna feed

The new stereo probably requires a switched feed too, that can be got from the cigarette lighter and you should add an appropriate fuse if there isn't one in the new head unit wiring loom for it.

The old feed for the Audio-10-Casette that you are removing can't supply enough current

The pop up compartment wont open any more, it is the AGW that controls its opening and closing (to prevent a CD being ejected into a closed compartment door)

Thanks for the Reply Richard. I had been using your guides for running the cables to the front.

The AGW now has no wires going in or out. The cable i have ran back to front uses the connections from the AGW.

These are the conenctions i have at the front. Power, Audio and Canbus.

I have also ran a Antenna extension front to back.

Does the cables contain the correct power cable and earth?

Is the little blue wire coming off the antenna cable what would power up the antenna?

Thanks again for the assistance.
