W211 After removi g door card, door is not locking

So I have a 2003 w211 e240.

Everything was fine before. I removed door cards just to replace my wood trims.
So now drivers door is not locking. The key locks all 3 doors but not drivers.(thats without the door panel being on) . If i pit the panel on i cant lock it at all ... as soon as i put the cable to the handle ...the door lock thingy is stuck ...so now im driving without a door panel...plus on top if i have to lock my car i have to use the key...not a central locking button ...any ideas... i hope you understood my explanation lol

IIRC there's a plastic surround on the door edge by the lock that must be present for the central locking to function.

Ive read about it i have the plastic...its in place...screwed in...still ...it seems the plastic is not the case ....or maybe...i dont know ...
