I’m back again 🙄

Not sure if anyone will know this, but my W211 had the auxiliary input port in the glove box. Looks like a headphone jack type of thing.

My question is… Does anyone know what kind of device you plug into it for playing music and what cable might be needed?

Isn't it just a 3.5mm jack plug? In which case anything that can play analog music out of one will do. Old iphones are popular for this sort of thing, or heaven forbid an ipod.

I had that in my old W211, I connected my iPod to it, as it had the iPod connector at the end of the cable.

As above. Nothing special, just a 3.5mm jack plug.

You can plug a Bluetooth receiver into it and stream music from other devices but

It looks it is yes, but I was thinking due to its age not everything would work. A simple mp3 player would have been handy to work.

@JamRocky - Yes it is a 3.5mm jack on some W211 models. Unfortunately I don't have it in my 2004 E240.

This is an example of a bluetooth adaptor that could be used.

Watching with interest. I've got the 3.5mm in my W211 with COMAND.
It works when I connect my (admittedly crappy) phone for music, but the volume is not great.

Well, I’ve got a Bluetooth thingy arriving shortly and I intend to connect it to my iPhone which is loaded with tunes! I will let you know how it goes, because until yesterday I didn’t know such a thing existed!

That’s how they are.
The bluetooth adapters boost the audio signal to a good level without adding any noise - you can also get ones that handle phone calls too.
I used one on the clk it worked well - not brilliant, charged by the fag lighter and I ran the cable hidden from the centre console to the socket in the glovebox.

Have you turned up the volume on the phone and the head unit?

I can have the music uncomfortably loud via the Bluetooth adapter 👍

Also, I’ve been really surprised by the quality and capability of the sound system in my E. No idea if it was upgraded or not, but I’m expecting it to work well when the Bluetooth thing arrives…

Mine is the basic head unit but the sound quality is more than acceptable 👍

I, being stupid, thought that if I enabled the old Bluetooth phone thing in the centre console to connect to my phone, it would let me play music from my phone.
It doesn't.
The phone feature works so having limited fun with the linguatronic.
Hey ho. I sometimes forget the car is 17 years old 🤦😁
