e320 cdi, 525tds bmw,
Hi all, hope your well.

on the W211 e320 cdi the battery is in the boot.

this battery is dead (dead flat). the car is locked & cant open it, the key is not a key, (if you get me..& its the only 1 we got when we brought it).

so there is no key to put in any key hole. theres no power to open any door or the boot.

is there away to get to the battery to charge it.? ..(without having to either smash a window, which if the car is dead lock, smashing a window will do nothing..., or buying a key).

if we jack up the car, remove the trays & disconnect the leads going to the starter motor & put a battery charger to these cables will this put charge into the battery without damaging anything else.. so we get a bit of power to open the boot / central locking.

thanks for any ideas.

Have you not got the removable metal key that slides inside the remote?
This will get you into the boot.

...assuming the lock still works which a lot don't :)

There is that too.:D Plenty of silicon spray into the lock and working the key to and fro often releases the lock as you would know.
I'm just surprised a key fob doesn't have the metal blade key in it?

OP,your only other alternative is to take your V5 and some identity like a passport to the dealer and order a new key which will come with a blade key inside the fob. Expensive, but I can't think of anything else.

hi.. thanks all for your help.

i dont think we have that blade key, but again il check with him (dad).

but im looking over the internet to find any other help. & i see there's been quite a few people that this as happened to. theres been 1 or 2 answers to get into the boot if... if you can get into the car,
on this modal w211 e320 cdi 2003 plate, do these units work to obtain enough power to get into the boot to charge battery..

its a cigarette light battery booster, i just need access, not to start. if using this will it damage any other part, i read on 1 of the webpages that the merc S500 (i think it was 500) that if you use this cig booster that it can fry a computer component.. W211 e320 cdi be ok to use this tool,?

lads..sorry my mistake, he can get in the car, but theres no power at all.
& if we have no chioce to use the starter motor cables, then he said that the engine will need to be lowered of the engine mountains., no thanks...i love these 5 minute jobs, not..haha...

thanks,

thanks dec, for that.
il have to ask if he as the blade in his key fob, but i dont think he as. (hope so..)
thanks

Jack up the car remove the under trays and put 12v to the live on the alternator, then press boot release, if you order a key blade who's to say it won't arrive the same as what you have? If you can't get 12v to the alternator liv because of space use a metal socket extension, I have had to do this in the past.

thanks auto-mobile, il keep this in mind....

i have the tool thats on post 6 above, the cigarette bat' booster, on order. ye its cheap, it may give us the power to do the boot, if it does or not when we'v tried il give to the mother to keep in her car incase she's out & forget's to turn lights off or something,

have you used this tool or like it.?
i never seen 1. i heard about it by reading another thread.. they seem ok upto 2lt petrol to jump start.

i did something silly over the xmas, & got stuff out of the back seat, & left the back open enough to keep the interior light on, (bmw e39) but i thourght it was closed, next morning....well you guessed it, had to get a jump start.

thanks auto-mobile, silly ?? put the + donnor battery to + on alton' ... the - on donnor battery to any earth on dead car. ..yes?

it wont damage anything, no.? (altonator,, or any thing else.?)

thanks.....

Hi,
you have stated that you can get into the car, so therefore you can pull the bonnet and get into the engine bay. ? On the top, nearside, not far from the suspension strut, you will see a black box with a red positive symbol on the lid. Here you can connect a jump start cable to get the beast running.
Incidentally, my 2003 Estate does not have a keyed lock in the tailgate, although my previous 300TD did .

thanks toolman1954,
yes into the car & able to pull bonnet open.

the car is at my parents gaf. but he said he looked all over for a red tag (jump point) but couldn't find 1 anywere.

we'r (me & missis) going down on saturday 25th, so we'l (me & dad) will have a good look before puting any tool or jump cables to anythng.

thanks steve

On the W211 saloons you jump it from the battery in the boot. The estates require jumping from the engine bay I believe.

If you do not have the valet key (metal blade key) then just order one from the MB dealership, they are not that expensive.

hi all,
you good.?

.still not in the boot.

he as not the key fob with the key inside it, & he say's that merc dealers will cost 100+ euro for the key blade.

we tried the cigrette plug in from car to car & did not work, (i was skeptic tho..)

we not tried the altonator jump yet, as weather is well wet at the mo'.

the car as no jump place under the bonnet that we'v found.

i did remove the number plate & there's a like a pop rivet in the center... by drilling this out,...wont do much will it.?

any more idea's.?

proberly be going back to the parents the weekend coming, so i/we'l have a look then.

thanks all.

What year is the car? On my (facelift) '08, you have to remove the black plastic cover at the back of the underbonnet area (passenger side on a RHD car) to find the positive connection point.

No way in through the number plate.
If you pull back the carpet on the passenger side footwell, you will see the foot rest, remove it via its 3 nuts/bolts and see post #10 in link below.

Below is what the key looks like, just in case it’s lying around somewhere with the car documents.

hi.. thanks for relpy / help e55bof , dec
il print the things you've said & pass them on to the dad,

i had my windscreen replaced on my 525tds (bmw e39) last week & the guy drives a merc & showed me his key. so no, dad as not this key,

thanks both..

hi dec, (all). good week-end.?

the info that you gave me with the picture, footwell...

i went over to the parents, on the floor of the car (passenger side) removed the foot well carpet, & the 10mm plastic black nuts. pulled out the metal plate &......

on the plate itself is 2 like ecu boxes (which i can see on the picture you sent link to.. i should of took the part numbers & info off them to cross check, for an understanding what they are. but i never..doh!. on these ecu like boxes are cables with plugs on that actully plug into the ecu thing.)

i have tried to find info &or a picture on the internet to put on to show what i mean but i still not found 1.

were you say on the picture link
mb e 320 is there any aux jump points under the hood - Mercedes-Benz Forum

on this picture is 2 boxes with heavy-ish cables, were you say some or 1 or 2 are live.

on the car that we have the problem with does not have this picture (thats on this link).
what we found was few brown cables bolted onto the body of the car. (heavy-ish cables, but dont look as heavy as the black 1 in the picture link.)

any idea.?

by the way... this car is green... i had a green golf 1989 1.6gtd & i got the run away train effect (over rev) damaged the head, got it all skimmed & what have ya..then the chassis on the back driver side broke.,had it welded which was stronger than the orginal job, tried to sell it...ha..had to scrap it..my beautiful golf, loved that car... i not going by a green car...not even my dream car bmw 730 d around the 2010. ..ok may be if it was few quid,or even free.

thanks...

You don’t have the Black cable that has the Red arrow in the picture below, is that correct?
What year is the car?
Is it an estate or a saloon?
