Does anyone know of a how-to for changing the brake pads on an E class sport? I had a good look around today and only found information on the SBC pump but nothing on how to actually change the pads.

Any help would be appreciated

I'm pretty sure that post 2006 W211's dropped the SBC brakes.

Oh right - how does brake hold work on post 06 cars?

Make sure that you have a new set of pins before you do it. Normally you have to cut the old pins to get them out because they seize in the caliper.

I couldn't get them to move at all and thought maybe I had missed something. Any tips on the best way to remove them?

I cut my pins out with a Dremel but still had to drill one out in the end where it had seized.

Use penetrating fluid and a punch that fits snugly otherwise they will never come out. Also if the brakes are hot this also helps. When you punch the pins out make sure the punch is square with the pin and the hammer blows are square with the punch.

I tried this Olly they still never moved. Put a little heat on with a blowlamp in the area but you have to watch the seals. To be fair 3 out of 4 came out only one proved to be a big problem that needed to be drilled out.

Have you ever has this problem on a 211?

I'll try some penetrating fluid next time. I managed bend a bolt I was using to hammer the pins and they didn't budge at all!

You need to use a proper sized punch to have any chance of them moving, a bolt is useless. Maybe you should take it to an indy if you don't have proper tools. Remember brakes are a safety item.
