Hello all! Next year I want to start fettling here and there with my E55.
I’m looking at long tube headers...there seems to be a fair few different options.
I assume kleemann are the best? Cks performance do their own, any good? Or there are other unbranded ones on eBay from Germany?
What adverse effects does changing the compressor pulley to 77mm as opposed to the 83mm?
Can anyone point me in the direction of the best places to buy bits please as prices over here seem rather steep!!

Thanks

Kleemann are regarded as the best quality LT headers I believe, but Eurocharged are supposed to be pretty good too.

I would get Acid at MSL to get all the parts you are likely to want beforehand as he can often negotiate a good deal, along with fitting.
I would avoid anything CKS sell simply because of A) A big mark up selling parts you can buy in cheaper. and B) Some of their parts are cheap?? Chinese pattern parts of dubious quality.
Re a 77mm or 83mm pulley. The 77mm pulley gives more boost which in turn makes more heat. The 55k's problem is getting rid of the heat soak that pulls the timing, so if you are thinking of doing V -Max or plenty of 0-100 pulls, you'll need extra cooling which may not be necessary with an 83mm pulley.
Again, Acid is the guy to speak to before you decide. His experience is invaluable in tuning this engine.

There are really on two options for exhaust work, Kleeman mid tubes but the right header collector needs a bit of heat to dome it in slightly to clear the steering column intermediate shaft, I run the Kleemans myself, the other option is to contact Alex on here as I have done as he has had custom made equal length long tubes headers for a right hand drive car but requires engine out job to fit, I do want to Persue these myself in the future if Alex can still hopefully reproduce them then.

Pulley wise you can go as small as 70mm which is the most extreme/aggressive pulley but I would advise running two heat exchangers and pumps and splitting the cooling system.

Coupled you’ll need larger injectors 500-600cc and an 82mm throttle body, you can buy an adapter plate for 100 dollars get it shipped over and just have the supercharger snout machined out to match the throttle opening.

Or cut all that and go weistec stage 3 blower kit!! 90mm throttle body for 750-800 crank hp!

Goodluck with whatever you choose .

I'm doing another set of headers (port matched this time) and a bigger (3") exhaust shortly. I intend on making a jig so that it can be repeated in the future. To get over 700 crank hp you'd want forged internals first and foremost.

Well perhaps I should rephrase to ‘mildly tune’
I’m looking to do the heat exchanger (PLM) and Johnson pump first
I already have secondary decay, centre box delete and rear silencers replaced with tiny power flow ones.
Primary decay and headers preferably long tube.
Is it engine out for all long tube headers? Kleemans need to me modified to fit?? Really!! At their price!!
77mm pulley and remap.
What would I see from that roughly?

Don't believe it's an engine out job to fit Kleemann long tube headers. I think the one on the drivers side needs a whack with a hammer to literally put a dent in the pipe to clear the steering rack! Savage.

With extra cooling, headers, 77mm pulley and remap you should be close to 600bhp.

Will they be an engine out job?

Yikes! Dent in the pipe? That doesn't seem very good for flow?

I have seen some RHD advertised headers on the bay. Anyone know them?

It’s only a slight dome, I don’t believe any mid tubes will fit without a mod to the collector, those eBay ones look like knock off kleemen headers.

Alex you’ll be onto a money spinner with those port matched true long tubes, I’m very interested and I’m sure you’ll have a queue of E55 owners waiting to invest.

Any visible dent/dome would no doubt change air flow dynamics?

There's a twist: I will try to do a 180 degree, firing order specific set first (I have room under the manual gearbox which is usually taken by the valve body in the auto).

A set of ELH for the RHD auto E55 will be based on that design or close enough. Not a 180 degree set, but an ELH. I may need a helper with an auto E55. If only there was in in MK @SMed08 ?

Will they be an engine out job?

Hopefully not but it may have to be.

Could some give Acid a little nudge to have a look at his thread please. I don’t have enough privileges to message anyone yet! Have made enough threads

Well, how about a CLS55 down the road from MK? ;)

You have all the correct permissons

*wave*

You can fit EC LTs without taking out the engine, me and a friend did his e55 on a ramp was a PITA and we soaked the bolts un diesel the night before, they came off surprisingly easy for a 150k car. The whole job from start to finish was about 4.5 hours.

Also MSC do awsome LTS for the M113k engine.
