Thankyou

Hi,
My first thought is that one of the batteries is knackered or a possible blown fuse, this is what I would be looking at first if it were my car.

Didn't know it had 2 batteries? There is one in the boot, where is the other one? Which fuses should I check?

Hold stops working if the little bike size battery under the bonnet is on it's way out but you'd also get a big red warning in the middle of the dash.

Apparently there's a cable under the small battery tray that can wear through and cause errors too.

Rear SAM was dry? All battery connections tight no corrosion? Front pre-fuse box no signs of corrosion?

Sounds like some undervoltage or bad connection problem (tough without that code I would also suspect gear selector module)

Welcome to the W211 E- Class!

Is this why I get I get a "LOW VOLTAGE" warning when I start up the car on my Audio 20 screen which disappears once the car has started. I tend to get it in cold mornings

most of the convenience functions wont work when your main battery is on the way out . the dash will warn you of this . check your small battery under the pollen filter for a date , if its way way old renew it . I'm taking mine off this winter for a full inhouse charge .

I phoned the dealer earlier and they confirmed mine does not have a second battery as its the facelift W211 2007 model

Another code reading from my still not working HOLD FUNCTION. Where is the rear SAM located?

The stop lamp switch plays a part in the hold function, even if the brake lamps operate as expected the second output to the gear selector module could be faulty.

I have the icarsoft and have various control panels that claim not to be transmitting data but appear to work anyway. I would suggest taking your car to kwik fit to have a free battery check and if they say it's not working properly then you can buy a battery online if you don't want to pay there higher prices.

I'm not sure where the relay is however if it is corroded or faulty then that could also be the issue.

Also like whitenemesis says it the system can be very picky so perhaps the brake pedal sensor is faulty? Hope this helps

gear module failure stopped my 'hold' fuction. relatively easy swap esp on a 7 speed version

How much was the gear mudule?

Hi two for that. My gear selector stopped my hold and sbcs functioning. Read about the link to the gear selector on some post on some forum somwhere and when both functions stopped working one day. Got another shift controler swapped them out in about 20mins and bingo all working again.

I took the old shifter apart and can onlynthink this is a proximity switch failure as its simple inside. Maybe the soldered joints in the switch oack fracture or the micro switch tip wears.

But change the gear selector and it should come back to life as mine did

Any idea of costs for this gear selector ?
