Hi Guys. Thought it would be easy to change the mirror glass and repeater blinkers in my passenger side door mirror on my W211 E Class, WRONG!! I unscrewed the three screws that hold the center mirror tilt mechamism, but could not get to the two screws that hold in the blinkers as the spring back plate thing is in the way. Has any one had a similar problem? if so how did you solve it please, as I dont want to brake anything else.
Mike.

I think you have gone about this all wrong.

you do not need to touch the glass adjustment mechanism. The outer casing simply slides off the mechanism... Fold the mirror in, then look at the side there will be a hole for a flat screwdriver. You need to lever a retaining clip back whilst puching the cover off the car...

Im sure there was a video of this somewhere?

Thanks Jaymanek.
That make so much sense, I will give it a go and let you know the result.
Regards
Mike.

This will only work with the pre-face lift cars , the face-lift cars require the mirror to be striped .

Thanks Jaymanek. ( regarding W211 Door Mirror )
After much prodding and pushing with varies sized screwdrivers off popped the shell/cover, much to my suprise. After that it was a doddle, so thank very much for your advice.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but would adopting this approach (by removing the mirror housing cover) enable me to lubricate the retracting mechanism, and thus prevent the loud squeaking which goes on every time I lock the car and the mirrors fold in?

in short, yes most of the mech is exposed once the cover is off.
