Has anyone tried the aftermarket W211 OM642 MAF/Intake pipes on ebay?
My intake pipe is very tired with several plastic welds and also has a chunk missing where it attaches to the turbo intake. I've already lost one swirl flap motor due to weeping in the past so need to get this pipe replaced ASAP.

I see used ones selling for upwards of £150 on ebay and also new aftermarket ones at a similar price, just wondering how good quality the aftermarket ones are going to be, if the MAF's inside will be any good or not. Anyone tried one of these?

Aftermarket

If your mafs are good , have you considered the silicone tube mod to turbo intake . ?

Not completely relevant in this case, but I’ve just removed an aftermarket batwing from a w212 350cdi because the intake air temperature sensors incorporated in the MAF’s were over reading by 25 degrees C, and bringing the engine light on. Buy cheap, buy twice. Just saying ;)

Totally relevant . Thank you
I defintely won't be buying aftermarket.

The Silicon hose mod is looking a good option!

Wow that looks a great option. Have you fitted one of these? How much modification is needed to the intake pipe?
AFAIK you cut out the hard plastic section of the batwing to turbo . Bound to be a video on you tube.

I have fitted the silicone tee on my w211 e320 cdi 2007 works a treat. Looks like it's not going to fit at first but with a bit of a soak in hot water slides over the turbo and the cut batwing side no problems. Measure twice cut once and make sure hoseclips are in the right position and tight, no orange seals required. I also fitted a new pcv valve whilst I was at it.

My cars a 2017 and the batwing has had several improvements compared to the early ones fitted to the om642. It's much much easier now to change air filters and the red turbo seal. Getting it back on is alot easier without smashing the plastic. Come back and let us know if you decide to fit the silicone t piece . It's also available in blue .

With regard to the MAF sensors. The fact they are non removable and the fix is replacing the complete batwing at a cost of minimum £160 for aftermarket to close to £600 for genuine MB. Is there any tuning companies or other, that convert to either removable MAF sensors or replace batwing completely and install new intake setup?

That looks interesting, but only addresses the poor sealing onto the turbo

I take it the sensors are included? But seems cheap if they are. 👍🏻

I replaced mine with a genuine MB part supplied by MB Edinburgh

They were offering remanufactured parts and from memory I think it was around £280.

Have you tried ringing a Jeep dealership for prices . ?

Any chance you could highlight on my photo where you cut the flange off on the Batwing?

Got my hose mod today and to be honest it just looks too big? Cutting the Batwing below the breather side exit looks as though there would not be enough left to securely clamp the host to the Batwing?

Looks like it splits to the left of the breather tube , as if that part is inside the outer tube.
