Ah well, deep breath, here goes ...

I have an embarrasing problem ...

Having taken delivery of my E220 just under a month ago I have had to refuel twice. Both times on reserve. My problem is the pump just cuts out if I try to pull the trigger back completely. Fine if I want to deliver diesel at about a litre and a half a minute but any faster and 'click' -everything stops. Last time the pump actually timed out because I was taking so long!

It's not like I haven't refuelled before, but what on Earth is going on? I know the fuel nozzle is a snug fit but it is on my A -Class & there are no problems there.

Have I just missed something blindingly obvious?

Another hundred miles and it's back on the forecourt - please help me leave in less than 10 minutes!!

Mark :o)

It is not just you.

Do not push the nozzle in too far. Even then cannot have the pump on full flow or it cuts out. Think it is just a quirk of the filler design.

Yeah, try not pushing it in so far. This can cause blow-back which can make real mess of your trousers........... :)

Ciao.

Works for me, as does Fuzzer's suggestion. Bit of a pain on some pumps but never failed to overcome it.

try inverting the nozzle 180 degrees when refueling. :)

That's it! No problem now & my forecourt phobia is cured!

Thanks fuzzer! :)

Remember, it's not how deep you fish, but how you wiggle your worm :)
