:eek:Help needed please,

I have wet carpets under the driver side pedals

Im not loosing any fluids, that I can see.

Any known problems ?

Cheers:confused:

Could be a number of things but the first thing you need to do (and quickly) is lift the carpet in the passenger side footwell underneath the dash (it just pulls up) remove the foam insulation and kick plates underneath and check for wetness.

The reason is that the passenger side footwell houses a lot of electronics you really, really do not want to get wet.

When you lift the carpets take a good sniff the smell of the liquid or damp carpets will also give a clue as to the likely source of the liquid.

Update, left the AC off and looks like its dried out...... Is there a drain pipe for the AC that might be causing this ?????????

Cheers for the help !

Sounds like it could be your evaporator. There should be a drain pipe which goes from this, through the bulkhead and let's the water go outside.

Ok update. Thought I would sort out my external temp sensor (always reading high).

Removed the skid tray and found the sensor swinging in the wind, so with that problem solved I thought I would look for signs of water.

Found my aux battery swimming in 6 inch of water, unclogged the drain the best I can, but would like to get a better look at the drain pipe. Do I have to remove the inner wheel arch cover???

Need some guidance please, i'm worried the water is going to cause a lot of damage

Cheers

The drain can be accessed by removing the panel along the base of the windscreen , where the wipers poke through . Ive seen this happen before where the drain blocks with leaves and fills the whole area with water . When the water reaches the opening where all the wires from the front drivers SAM pass through the bulkhead it over flows and runs down at the back of the pedals . On the few we fixed the cars gave no electrical problems afterwards . Hopefully youl be ok too .

Thanks for that, great info. I will strip it apart tomorrow and have a look.

Will this also cause the water under the aux battery (passenger side) ?

Update. The drain was free and clear, but the foam weather proofing on the windcreen plastic had totally failed

Now repaired and waiting for a downpour to test

Thanks all.
