Hi,

Pretty sure my bluetooth module is broke. Just wondered where abouts it is so I can go about getting a new one and changing it

Murff what age is your car ?

In Model Year 2009 and after (Q3 2008 build) its part of the head-unit (stereo).

Before that, if you have the optional phone system it plugs into the connector in the armrest.

Why do you think it is broken ?

Richard,
My phone no longer pairs, nor any other phone I've tried. None of the phones I tried could find the cars Bluetooth and the car can't find any phone either. Also tried a system reset but no luck. My car is a 58 plate. Does that mean the whole head unit would have to be changed because they aren't cheap!?

If you have a headunit that has a red and green phone button on the left hand keypad then you have the newer NTG2.5 based unit that has full bluetooth built in. I think it is unlikely it has stopped working. Make sure your following the correct pairing procedure as in the NTG2.5 manual.

If you dont have a red and green phone button then you have the older NTG1 based unit which doesnt have full bluetooth built in. There will be a bluetooth adapter in the centre console connected to the UHI connector as shown on the link I posted before in post #2.

Yeah I have the newer one, I used to have my phone paired quite easily but now it just doesn't work anymore. When you use the cars bluetooth to search for phones it can't find any, conversely I've tried a number of phones that can't find the cars bluetooth signal either so I'm guessing the cars bluetooth function isn't work. Driving me mad now!

Hurray! I read the manual again and did something called external authorisation. I think it's because of the iPhone software update it stopped working. So glad it's fixed!

Problem with W211 relephone system

Hi everyone,
I am new to this site & to forums as a whole.
I have a 2005 (05 plate) W211 ESTATE 220cdi. I have the telephone hand set in the arm rest. When I purchased the car, I just slipped in my sim card and the telephone worked. Also the blue tooth option worked. Then for some reason it stopped working. All the number that I have stored in the phone are still there as are my previous calls, but now neither the hand set nor the blue tooth wants to work. The telephone hand set send a message saying that there is no sim card inserted and I will not pair up with a hand set via blue tooth - even the one's which were connecting previously. Does anyone have a solution please. A new battery has been installed and the asmaller battery in the engine compartment has been checked out as ok.

Hope someone can help
Thanks in advance,

I'm not completely familiar with the system in your car. Have you tried some of the links on this thread? Some useful stuff there. Also is it an iPhone? Mine is and after a software update mine just stopped working or connecting to a phone. I had to do select the external authorisation option on command, then search for the bluetooth with my phone. It then found it and I had to put a number in my phone and the same number in the command which asked me to put the number in

Identify the system you have: http://www.mercupgrades.com/Choosing+Bluetooth+Cradle+for+European+Mercedes+Vehicles-article-41.html as you posint is not really clear as to what you have?

hi
As a new member, I cant find how to start a new post. So I thought I`d jump onto this one!
I have a W211 last of the E class 320 CDI.
The comand can take upto 15 minutes to boot up, which means no phone, sat, or radio. Main dealer want £2500 for a new head unit!
I think I`d rather fix it, but main dealer not interested.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
