W212 2011 Rear Subframe Failure. MB Refuse to Help. Where next?

Independent local garage have told me of a couple more models are at risk to rear subframe failure.
My concern is that I do not want to be a scaremongering so and so but I was driving my Mercedes when the rear subframe failed.
Car written off by insurance company.

Are you saying that your car was written off by your insurer due to rear subframe corrosion?

Did the subframe failure cause the car to be in an accident making the car a write off?

Are you saying that your car was written off by your insurer due to rear subframe corrosion?

As I had read that my car is based on the C class passenger car that has potential rear subframe issues I booked the car into a specialist Mercedes dealer for a rear subframe inspection.The inspection reported that no issues could be found.From my understanding these subframes are known to corrode from the inside to out.

After the accident my car recovered and taken to a Mercedes dealer through the recovery system as per standard terms and conditions.

Insurance company moved the car to a local approved body shop , the body shop telephoned me informing me that all parts on order to complete the repair.

A couple of days later the insurance company telephoned me telling me that they would not authorize the repair after consultation with the body shop.The insurance company made me a very attractive offer for my car and transferred the agree sum immediately to my account.

Body shop verbally confirmed rear subframe failure but would not elaborate.

It could well be that the body shop found other issues with my car opon closer inspection.

I cannot give you a yes or no answer to your question because I assumed correctly or incorrectly that corrosion was the culprit , let's hope so.

No the car was written off due to rear subframe failure. I had a the rear subframe inspected a couple of years ago and was told I won't have any trouble with the subframe. I was told that the car was reparable but the assessor would not give the go ahead to repair before because of the performance of the car !

The damaged panels were all aluminium and I feel availablity could have been a problem.All the lights were intact , pan roof was fine and both doors and the boot opened.

Both nearside wheels would have to be replaced plus tyres , the steering geometry was incorrect.What I found strange that none of the airbags did not go off ( thank goodness

I see. It may be the case that the insurer wasn't aware that the rear subframe failure was unrelated to the accident? Perhaps the garage didn't convey this information clearly to the insurer's engineer.

My sub frame failed its MOT in Jan 24 I contacted Dave Evans who is on this forum who proved invaluable around advice as what to do when you contact your local dealer .Initially car was booked in at Mercedes Stockport where they said there was nothing they could do .Followings Dave's advice and using his template emails, I contacted MB UK this resulted in a new Sub-frame being fitted in March this year the only cost was £40 for new bolts.
as aside note if you get your sub frame fitted FOC your tracking will be a mile out and MB stockport didn't carry out a 4 wheel tracking inspection on my car , but anything Sub-frame Dave Evans is your man has was fantastic . Regards Rob
