W212 E Class parking sensor fault...

my 60 plate E250 estate has developed the above....start up the car & as soon as the parking brake is released both the front & rear parking displays beep with just the two centre red leds on...goes off as soon as you move .

Not getting any display front or rear when I get close to anything.

I know the sensors are notorious for failure on pretty much all makes when the get on a bit but not sure if this is the problem .

Any suggestions/ideas welcome.....

will wait & see if it clears itself...the car was totally boggin ( i.e. quite dirty ) when the fault appeared....squeaky clean now & faulty still

my local garage ( not a merc dealer ) tells me its sensor number 4 on the front which has failed...there a a total of 6 sensors...so facing the the front of the vehicle which is number 4?

It needs a Stat otherwise it's a guess.
