W212 E350 9G transmission service intervals

Put a tipex mark on the filter housing i can guarantee it wont match up on return

Mine goes in tomorrow

Hi , a little old lady walks in to a garage !

However , I do understand what you are saying .
Yes can understand the little old lady scenario, and yes some garages will be pulling wool over some customers eyes, but i fully refuse to believe that all dealers/independent not carrying out the work they are charging for, am I being naive, I sincerely hope not, but this sort of bad practice never last, before they get rumbled.

Would be a sad state of affairs, if one can’t have trust in anyone.

Doesn't the 9G service kit include a new sump as it includes the filter ?

Hi , you of course are correct and it would be a terrible state if you lost trust in everyone.

I have been let down badly this week but that is no excuse to paint very body with the same brush.

Headhurts , true "It gets quite involved..." but it should not be up to the customer to trawl the internet of join forums to find out what gearbox he has and whether it needs servicing or is included in his paid for service plan.

My personal view is MB dealerships are being obtuse on purpose when it comes to gearbox servicing to save themselves money. I bet amongst them they have carried out many a service purchased under a plan where the owner has driven off in happy ignorance that his gearbox should have been serviced but did not get that service. We have seen it on AMG differentials as well.
Agreed, and the information available is becoming vague and/or more difficult to access. Invoice for service only states "Carried out service as required" and you have to actively seek out the digital service record. Granted many will simply take the care for a service and pick it up after with no more thought another than job done, but IMHO it should be normal and standardised across the sector to provide a detailed list of all work carried out.

Having read through the invoice again it doesn't even make sense. On the one hand "topped up / renewed fluids in accordance with serv schedule", then further down "topped up engine oil as required". On a service where a engine oil / filter change was carried out. Yes, it's just a cut'n'paste, but could be better.

I always get paperwork following a service detailing what was carried out.

Of course you have to trust that the work has actually been done but that is not peculiar to car dealerships, unless proven otherwise I will trust my dealership otherwise sleepless nights would ensue.
