Car
merceds c220 cdi AMG sport estate
I just put a litre of non low ash oil in my e350 cdi
do i need to be worried?
I need the car for work tomorrow and im paranoid about using it!!
Any advice on this pls

One off journey won't kill it.

But repeated use will clog-up the DPF (is your car is equipped with DPF).

Thanks for the reply, yes it has a dpf fitted
its the e350 bluetec 2010 265bhp version

I also believe one journey won't do any harm. Further to that I have a recollection of reading MB advice for this very scenario and topping up with other than low saps oil was permitted. I've tried to find the reference but can't put my finger on it. Anything in your owners manual ?

OK here it is:

"Engine oils for vehicles without a diesel
particle filter may also be used temporarily in
vehicles with a diesel particle filter if the engine
oil listed is not available (228.3/229.3/229.5).
You must then have an oil change carried out
as soon as possible."

Bear in mind the ash content of the oil only becomes a problem for the DPF when it's consumed i.e. burn't in the engine hence it's a cumulative effect over a long period so a few days of use should be no big deal.

Assuming you have used either semi-synth or fully-synth it will do no harm at all.
