Hi,

I am the (so far) happy owner of a 2001 CL600 which is a fabulous car but reading around it seems that it will only be a matter of time before something goes wrong with the electronics...

Therefore I am considering purchasing an ODB multiplexer from Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330212932828&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching) as I think it would be useful to be able to do my own diagnostics occasionally - for instance I recently lost the soft close facility on the passenger door and had to have MB sort it by clearing a fault code caused by a flat battery (I think).

Also, my car has the wrong indicated mileage following an Instrument Cluster replacement by the previous owner. For re-sale purposes I'd rather have the correct mileage shown as explaining why it is showing 42K less than it should may put a buyer off!

Has anyone had any experience with the multiplexers and is it worth getting one as they seem cheap enough and would probably pay for themselves the first time used. Also is it possible to correct the mileage as my dealer says that you get one chance to enter the correct mileage and after that it can't be changed.

Thanks,

Chris Drew

You can't correct the mileage with this system. You need a mileage corretion firm. Look in the yellow pages.

You cant correct it with a Star either. (only when its being fitted)

OBD won't do anything for you to be honest - you need Star or Carsoft to do anything useful.

For your age car I'd use Carsoft, more expensive than OBD kit but it will do most of what you want.
