Hi All,

Does anyone have the official guide on how to replace the number plate bulbs? Been searching on the net and in the States some say you have to take off the entire hatch door inside trim etc.

I want to pry the lenses off with a screw driver but dont want to break them.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Assuming it's the same as W169 (probably is) - I use two narrow plastic trim removal tools on both sides*, to pull it out - it's very tight.

* Left and right that is (as in short sides) - there are no lugs on the longer sides of the light, so don't pull there - it might break.

Also, depending on the modification / year, it might or might not have a rubber gasket, so I wouldn't use a screwdriver, as it will most certainly damage it.

Here's a pic of my old light, replaced with a one with built-in reversing camera.
The tailgate would be on the right-hand side.

Makes sense. Will try over the weekend. Wonder how easy it would be to replace the units with LED .

I've tried a few, all were no good (either failed shortly, or triggered errors, despite the "Canbus" stated (of course, it is not CANBus that monitors the external bulb failure), until finally found a type that works. I'll get the details over the weekend, and send you a link.

Ok cheers. Is it the just the bulb you used or was it a while LED light unit?

it's these LED (SMD) bulbs - been on for about a year now - no errors, no flickering, bright and even light (pure white, without silly blueish tint).

Also what led are you using for the side lights in the headlamp?
