You may be working against yourself here. It would appear you have installed a K and N Cone filter in place of the standard MB air filter box. The MB unit has an intake directed towards the front radiator grill thus drawing air from the outside of the front of the car and perhaps gaining a litle ram effect when travelling forwards. The cone filter on the other hand is going to draw air from the under bonnet space in close proximity to the hot exhaust manifold and turbocharger= not a good thing when that air is shortly going to be compressed by the turbo and heated up in the process despite passing through a charge cooler before entering the engine. Rather than trying to shield the K and N cone filter it might be better to use the MB airbox with a non restrictive K and N filter element and get the best of both worlds??
